Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Support Secretary to join the Urology Department in Colchester Hospital, part time - 24 hours per week.
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide an efficient and effective support service to the clinicians, patients & medical secretaries. The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, have excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan. You must be able to work using your own initiative and be flexible to work where the need is greatest.
You should have a good level of clerical experience and good working knowledge of IT systems although full training in the use of our systems will be provided.
In this department you will be fully supported by management with regular training and development to help further career.

To undertake a full range of secretarial and administrative duties for the Urology team and Consultants including:
- Receive and open mail
- Perform routine tasks on own initiative
- Type general correspondence, clinic letters, discharge summaries, reports
- Receive dictation via Big Hand and upload letters to Evolve
- Answer telephone and deal with enquiries, convey messages
- Maintain efficient filing systems
- Ad-hoc duties as delegated by Department Lead

- To manage and support the Consultant team.
- To ensure a high standard of secretarial and administrative service is consistently delivered by undertaking / delegating all required tasks and activities on a daily basis
- To utilise the required technology / hospital systems including Big Hand / PAS Evolve / Medway - Portal and any other new technology or system(s) that are introduced and support other team members to do so to deliver an efficient administrative and secretarial service.
- To recommend and support the implementation of service improvements to own and team working practice to improve workflow.
