Role: Occupational Therapist
Location: Worthing
Salary: £26,000 - £40,000 pa
Hours: Full time 37.5 hrs, per week, Monday - Friday 09:00am - 17:00pm
Responsible for: Occupational Therapist supporting delivery and Delivery Partner projects within the TEC contract

We are looking for a highly motivated Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in the provision of assistive equipment to support people in the community. Your working week will be very diverse and includes advising customers about daily living aids and assisting healthcare professionals regarding specialist equipment. As the Development Partner in West Sussex we:
- Deliver innovations, development activities and projects
- Support the “Technology First” culture change programme through delivering training, communication and engagement activities
- Deliver the practical elements of the service – strength based assessment, set up and installation, maintenance and repair, stock management, 24 hour monitoring for people using telecare and 24 hour community responder services
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will:
- Support the development and provide the delivery of training courses and expert advice to local health, social care, voluntary sector, etc staff who will be referring into the TEC service
- Provide out-reach support into teams where referrers are based, maximising opportunities for co-location and joint working
- Complete complex assessments, identifying how TECS solutions can be used to support people to achieve their personal outcomes
- Provide professional supervision and support for other assessors in the team
- Supervise the process for carrying out reviews of service users to ensure that the right level of support is being provided and measure personal outcomes
- Become an expert source of knowledge in a range of TEC services and products and use so that people get the best solutions to support them. Use this knowledge to support other team members. Keep updated with the latest technology to be able to offer innovation and new ideas to others.
- Work with the Transformation Manager to design and implement activities and new ways of working that with create culture change and drive the transformation of TECS within West Sussex
- Support and promote innovation continually
- Lead and participate in projects and with pilots to test new technologies
- Act as 'gatekeeper' to ensure that special orders for are reviewed first to see if they can be satisfied from existing stock.
- Liaise directly with referrers and other team members to achieve the outcome required, in the fastest time with the lowest cost.
- Co-design service developments and improvements with as part of our role as Delivery Partner
- Take a lead in organising, running and reporting at local TECS related groups as needed.
- Support other clinical services developments across NRS Healthcare.
- Work closely with all other stakeholders to promote effective partnership working.
- Work in partnership with retailers, pharmacists and third sector organisations as necessary
- Write timely professional reports/ records and action plans in line with professional guidelines that comply with appropriate record keeping policies as necessary.
- Clearly record outcomes of intervention in line with evidence based practice and NRS Standards
- Be a positive role model and ambassador of NRS Healthcare
- Attend or lead meetings as and when required
- Be fully conversant and compliant with your professional code of conduct and the requirement of continuous professional development.
- Participate in NRS Healthcare's appraisal and supervision processes
- Fully compliant with all relevant mandatory training as and when required.
- Accountable for own professional development and actions in line with professional registration requirements, national and local guidelines.
- Maintain a professional portfolio demonstrating clinical and professional development.
Quality and Service User Safety:
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- To be compliant with NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines.
- To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Local Authorities incident reporting policy as appropriate. To ensure appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence.
- To contribute to the identification, management and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility.
- To ensure day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety and service user experience.
- To ensure monitoring of quality and compliance with standards is demonstrable within your clinical practice.
General:
- To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to moving and handling practice.
- To comply with the Professional Codes of Conduct and to be aware of changes in these.
- To maintain an up to date knowledge of all relevant legislation and local policies.
- To ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with current quality initiatives within the work area.
