The School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work (SSESW) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Science Laboratory Technician (Teaching).
The postholder will provide specialist technical services to support teaching in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work. If successful for the role you will be required to work part-time (0.6FTE) on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays and be on campus on these days.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
- Academic and/or vocational qualifications i.e. 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject
- At least 3 years’ recent relevant experience in a technical role within a laboratory
- Experience in Biological, Chemical and Physical Science Techniques relevant to the post
- Experience in the following:
- Laboratory protocols to include working experience of sectioning using microtomes.
- Health and safety including the production of risk assessments.
- Stock control and requisitioning
- Management of Inventory.
