Border Force Learning and Development Team

We are an expert team with great business knowledge and networks to enable true partnership working with our capability partners and subject matter experts. Our focus is on enabling leaders and managers to improve the experience for colleagues, building the capabilities required to create resilient competent and confident Border Force Officers of the future. We will do this through being values driven, insight led, outcome focussed, agile and expert.

We are responsible for delivering operational learning to frontline Home Office staff, equipping them with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work in a law enforcement environment. Trainers primarily deliver foundation training in Immigration and Customs functions to new recruits, but will have the opportunity to deliver other training to established staff and contingency personnel of all grades across the UK.

Those joining the Training Team at one of our regional hubs will manage a team of trainers at that hub. Whilst a majority of training will be delivered in the hub, some occasional travel to other areas may be required on a business needs basis.

As a Training Delivery Manager you will work to a Senior Training Delivery Manager and be required to:

• Liaise with operational management teams, setting up procedures and processes, which will enable operational learning and development teams to manage the planning, requirements and deadlines for delivery of a range of training programmes and activities against priorities across the UK.
• Manage, develop, coach and lead a team of Officers based in one of our regional hubs, including monitoring and recording performance and attendance, ensuring completion of mandatory e-learning and performance related administrative tasks and encourage sharing of good practice amongst the teams and wider learning community.
• Prioritise, allocate and deploy resources, creating and organising training events in an efficient and effective manner to manage the demand and meet changing priorities.
• Produce and monitor daily statistics to provide trend data to aid efficient planning and use management information data to effectively and efficiently inform resource and team plans and the wider people function as required.
• Work with the wider Learning & Development resource community and national peer networks to assist cultural and business transformation as required.
• Build networks and work with stakeholders from other departments, communicating effectively to support delegates in their learning journey.
• Identify and mitigate risks, providing a range of solutions for consideration and drive continuous improvement

Whilst learning and development experience, through formal or informal delivery of learning or training programmes would be useful in this role, they are not essential.
