Specialist (Band 6) Occupational Therapist

Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Service – Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen

18.75hr per week

(Fixed term until March 2024 – secondment considered with support from manager)


This is an opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Service.

The post holder will carry out specialised Occupational Therapy assessment and provide interventions for older adults with functional mental ill health or organic brain disease. This can be in a variety of setting including inpatients, peoples own homes and community settings.

This is an exciting post working with older adults (65+) who are experiencing functional mental ill health or organic brain disease. The role will entail supporting the client group in one to one and group sessions and supporting discharge to community settings.

There will be a role in supervision and line management of OT staff & HCSW, and in developing the Older Adult Mental Health OT service.

Applicants will have experience in mental health and use of standardised OT assessments. The post holder will be able to work using own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

A driving licence is required for this post and access to a car advantageous.

Flexible working, including evening and weekend work may be required to meet service demands.

Regular supervision and support will be provided as will the opportunity to develop through the use of an annual appraisal and a personal development plan.
