Job Description

The Digital Mental Health Group at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit is an innovative and collaborative research group studying the intersection between adolescent mental health, cognitive neuroscience, and digital technologies with the aim of improving mental health outcomes in both non-clinical and clinical populations.

We are seeking a research assistant to join our dynamic team full-time to help us produce high-quality research.

In this job, you will have three principal responsibilities. First, you will be in charge of ethics, recruitment and data collection for two ongoing mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) research studies that include working with schools and young people. Second, you may help other group members to carry out a systematic review of social media research alongside other tasks. Third, you will take responsibility for group administrative tasks such as planning group meetings.

You will be supported in complementing these core activities in ways that interest you and benefit the group, as well as the wider department and academic community: for example, by helping us when we collaborate with other research teams; by helping the group work with lived experience populations; or by playing a role when the group does outreach and media engagement.

The post holder must be available to start on August 1st for a duration of twelve months. This position is ideal for candidates looking to gain experience prior to a master or PhD.

This is an advanced RA post with a variety of requirements that need to be met, as multiple projects need to be delivered on time for stakeholders and funders. Applying for this role, you should be able to demonstrate a strong track record of being able to work well in a university research team.

For the complete essential and desirable criteria please see the job specification provided as part of the application pack.

We encourage applicants from backgrounds traditionally marginalised and/or under-represented in the field. If you think that this might be the role for you, please write and tell us why.

If you have any informal enquiries please feel free to contact Dr Amy Orben: [email protected]

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children and adults' barred lists).

Click the 'Apply' button below to register an account with our recruitment system (if you have not already) and apply online.

Please ensure that you upload a covering letter and a CV in the Upload section of the online application. The covering letter should outline how you match the criteria for the post and why you are applying for this role. If you upload any additional documents which have not been requested, we will not be able to consider these as part of your application.

Please include details of your referees, including email address and phone number, one of which must be your most recent line manager.

The closing date for applications is: 17th April 2023

The interview date for the role is: To be confirmed
