Job Description
Due to unplanned staff absence, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operational 8A manager with an Allied Health Professions background to provide leadership and management of the Camden Long-Term Conditions Service.
The post oversees approximately 60 staff across 4 sites in Camden, line managing Allied Healthcare Professionals and Nurses across 8 teams.
The portfolio covers the following services: COPD and Home Oxygen , Diabetes , Dietetics, Heart Failure, Long-COVID, Podiatry, Neurology and Stroke .
This is an exciting role providing leadership of a dynamic and experienced leadership team with opportunities for continuing to forge ahead with new workstreams.

- To line manage staff, (within specific areas of responsibility as identified above), from varying professional backgrounds
- To support teams to perform effectively in service delivery
- To act as a senior leader influencing multi disciplinary staff to make change, ensuring that service improvements are sustainable
- To be a source of a clinical expertise, support and advice where appropriate.
- To work alongside key colleagues to develop appropriate and constructive relationships
- To ensure that appropriate methods are used to ensure the inclusion of patient’s perspectives
- To identify and lead on the delivery of productivity and efficiency savings within the specific areas of responsibility.
- To implement systems and processes to manage risk and ensure full compliance with governance procedures within the specific services.
- To contribute to and participate in the annual business planning cycle.
- To work as an active member of the Camden Integrated Adult Service Senior Management Team.
- To deputise for the Head of Integrated Adult Services as appropriate.
- Prepare written and oral progress reports setting out progress in relation to the work and learning within the various services.

Leadership, Finance and Performance:
- To provide leadership to the LTC teams, ensuring clear communication of the Directorate values, vision, priorities and expectations to ensure the engagement of teams to deliver service of the highest quality.
- To manage the budgets for the LTC services; ensuring services operate effectively within their allocated resources, taking appropriate action to address any variances.
- To participate in joint working across the Directorate and with external partners in the development and delivery of integrated service models and new and innovative packages
which address inequalities for people accessing services and improve the health and wellbeing of clients within Camden.
- To ensure that all key national and local targets relating to finance, governance, productivity and performance are met by the various services, taking appropriate action to address any variances.
- To hold team leaders and clinicians to account for delivery of their objectives through regular performance review meetings.
- To ensure sufficient data availability within the division to monitor and track performance and to satisfy reporting requirements.
- To investigate complaints as appropriate under the procedure and ensure action is taken to address issues of concern and prevent reoccurrence of similar events through shared learning.
- Ensure that environmental standards are appropriate for safe & clean care delivery.
- To embed all Quality Governance activities within the various services and embed a culture which embraces safety and continuous improvement.
- To assist/lead on specific projects within the division.
- To formally deputise for the Head of Integrated Adult Services as required.
Managing the Workforce:
- To be responsible for the day to day management and development of services within specific area of responsibility.
- To ensure that staff management arrangements are consistent with HR policies and procedures within the Trust and to ensure that good practice in recruitment, appraisal,
performance management and other policies are maintained.
- To ensure that the service has in place effective arrangements for staff appraisal, training and development and use the KSF framework accordingly.
- To embed the ethos and ensure the delivery of compassionate leadership across all LTC Services.
- To ensure implementation of national, STP and Trust workforce initiatives, including improving working lives, and European working time directives.
- To work with the Head of Integrated Adult Services to make recommendations on skill mix composition, role redesign and changes to working practices in order to continually strive for innovation, improved quality and delivery of the Directorate objectives.
- To motivate and develop teams so as to maintain high levels of staff morale and a culture characterised by openness ensuring that the clinical perspective and voice of staff is heard and valued.
- To work with Learning & Development and the higher educational institutes to allocate clinical placements for students; ensuring adequate support mechanism are in place.
- To support mechanism for improving communication internally and externally to the organisation.
Professional & Governance:
- To ensure that all nursing, therapy, medical and allied staff within the post holders sphere of responsibility perform their duties in line with their relevant Professional
Regulatory Bodies and local policies and procedures, working in partnership with the Clinical Director in relation to all medical staff.
- To promote all clinical professional issues within the division and with partner organisations.
- To engage with nursing, AHP and other professional leads to ensure that professional stands are maintained.
- To provide professional advice both within and outside their own profession as required by linking with professional organisations, other disciplines and educational
establishments.
- To provide effective professional leadership and supervision across the LTC services.
- Being aware of strategic direction taking into account national, local and Trust priorities
- Use own highly specialised knowledge to advise and support staff to deliver quality care and play a leading role in measuring, maintaining and monitoring quality in across Long-Term Conditions Services.
- To facilitate and develop teams and encourage wider team working across Camden health economy.
- To ensure that the clinical voice is heard and incorporated into all service planning.
- To ensure effective governance systems including clinical supervision are embedded for all staff.
- To develop and offer opportunities to staff for mentoring and shadowing to support development.
- To support the non- medical prescribing policy and ensure that safety mechanisms are maintained at all times.
- To ensure that all policies and procedures (including Health & Safety) are adhered to at all times.
- To actively participate in the Quality Governance agenda and ensure that systems and processes for managing risk, supporting safety and continuous improvement are in
embedded and consistent across teams.
- To promote and participate in audit and research opportunities.
- To continue to embed a culture of Quality Improvement (QI) across services, driving forward QI projects across LTC.
- To contribute to the Camden Adult workforce strategy, informing this and the Trusts’ workforce development, including future education requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
- To participate in the On-Call Manager rota for Camden.
- To take responsibility for own personal and professional development.
