In our quest to deliver patient-focused quality care we are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiasticP/T (15hrs)CBT Therapist/Counsellor/Psychotherapist to join our forward thinking, friendly and expandingMental Health In- Reach/Psychology team atHMP/YOI Bronzefield.

We are keen to recruit an enthusiastic clinician to join our mental health team and specifically to provide a high-quality therapeutic service to women in need of such support. This permanent role will be an integral part of our team and the psychological services we provide. The postholder will be supported through supervision and training opportunities.

Working in partnership with the criminal justice system and other agencies, we provide responsive, dependable and high-quality primary care and mental health services to existing offenders (and those at risk of offending) in the communities we serve, to improve their health status and to encourage social inclusion.

We want to work with a clinician who is motivated by the diversity and challenge of clinical work in a prison setting and someone who has great skill in forming appropriate therapeutic relationships and working alongside clients to help them better understand their difficulties and effect change. Many of the women needing support have complex and traumatic histories which impacts upon their presentation, others experience difficulties with being in custody, emotional and relationship difficulties. Our new team member will need to have a well-developed understanding of clinical risk and to show evidence of skills in the assessment and management of risk to self and others. A clinical interest in trauma informed approaches would be advantageous.

The clinician recruited will show an enthusiasm for working in multi-disciplinary settings and will be able to communicate well with staff from a range of disciplines. Working in prisons can be demanding and challenging but also immensely valuable and rewarding. It is not the right role for everyone. You would need to be able to manage your own time, to be professional and courteous in challenging situations and to get on with a range of clients and colleagues.
