Job Description

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust requires a dynamic and forward thinking Locum Consultant to join the Dermatology team predominantly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich (QEH) site. The vacancy is for a full time Locum Consultant, but applications from those wishing to work less than full time are welcome. The post includes clinics in a newly established Community Dermatology Service based at centres in Bexley and Greenwich. In addition at QEH there will be clinics in adult/paediatric general Dermatology and skin cancer as well as skin surgery lists.

Provide high quality Dermatology care in out-patient clinics and perform high quality surgery within the appropriate level of
Attend required MDT and CPD events
Perform regular ward rounds with clinical There is no out of hours on call commitment but the Dermatology team are closely involved in the care of in-patients where needed.
Provide high quality support to GP colleagues in hospital and
Provide leadership to the department, encouraging development of services with colleagues both in and outside the organisation.

The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was created in 2013 from a merger of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with University Hospital Lewisham, as part of a reconfiguration of services in South East London. The hospitals cover the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and parts of Bexley, with a combined population of greater than 530,000 people. The Trust is located in a pleasant part of South East London, with easy access to Central London and the Kent countryside. There is a wide range of residential areas with excellent local amenities and schools.

The QEH Dermatology department is a busy but friendly and supportive environment. The team are dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of nine Consultants within the Dermatology service, as well as 3 Fellows (one in a joint CESR training post with GSTT), General Practitioners with Extended Roles (GPWERs), Clinical Nurse Specialists as well as a developed admin team. The workplace is modern and well equipped, with a dedicated outpatient theatre suite, as well as a phototherapy unit undergoing refurbishment. Close links are being developed between the Dermatology departments at LGT and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital for example through cross site Dermatology Consultant/Plastics Consultant and

The job plan is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week on average to be carried out at QE sites which include community facilities in Greenwich and Bexley. This is an outline programme

and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Director within 3 months of your start date.

The job plan will be negotiated between the consultant and his/her clinical director at least annually. The initial job plan for this post is planned to be:
