This job role is to manage a team of Product Assurance Managers, Engineers and Inspectors who provide all product assurance requirements for space projects throughout the project lifecycle (design, manufacture, test and delivery). Additionally, this role manages the business Configuration and Document Management (CADM) team. In all cases meeting project timescales and delivery requirements is a key objective.

- The role is responsible for the prevention, investigation and resolution of non-conformances
Performance and Design
- the role is accountable for the delivery of specialist Product Assurance documentation (PM&P, EEE, RAMS, Safety)
- the role is accountable for the safety certification and compliance of the product
- The role supports the CABC team with Product Assurance requirements of new opportunities
- the role is responsible for the documented compliance of delivered product to customer specification
- The role is responsible for the delivery of documentation to meet customer PA requirements (e.g. NCRs, EIDPs, Inspection Reports)
- the role is responsible for chairing internal readiness review meetings (MRR, TRR)
- the role is responsible for in-build and in-test inspection points and sign-off of associated reports or checkpoints
- the role is responsible for the safety certification and compliance statements for the product
- the role is responsible for initial definition of the product baseline (CIDL) for review and input from the project team
- the role is responsible for the classification, tracking and logging of changes to the product baseline (via CCBs)
- the role is responsible for the notification of baseline changes to the customer (for example, by tracking the status of RfD/RfW)
Programmatic control of work on the project(s)
- The role has full delivery accountability for the department
- The role is accountable for schedule adherence and control
- The role is responsible for allocation of work across the team
- The role is accountable for the business risk management of the department
- The role is responsible for the timely completion of documentation to the standards held by ABSL
Cost control and improvement of the department
- The role is accountable for the department cost reduction and improvement strategy and implementation
- Note: The role shall not authorise expenditure on behalf of the business
Quality control
- The role has direct responsibility for all departmental level Quality Control documentation and monitoring within the department
- The role is accountable for departmental level Business Management System (BMS) documentation
- The role is accountable for all Quality Control documentation and monitoring within the department
- The role is supports Quality Control documentation and monitoring within the function
- The role is accountable for non-conformance control across all projects
- The role is accountable for continuous improvements across the department (from process improvements through to developing new methodologies and techniques of working)
- The role is accountable for the successful completion of appropriate wash up activities on customer projects and internal activities
- The role is accountable for ensuring the Lessons Learned processes are followed and implemented across projects)

- The role is responsible for staffing levels within the department to meet the strategic delivery needs of EnerSys ABSL
- The role is accountable for the training and development of the employees within the department

- Reporting and communications
- The role is accountable for the delivery of Business level Items of Interest (IOIs) each week to the Technical Solutions Manager
- The role is accountable for the timely and appropriate communication of all departmental matters within the business
- The role is accountable for all communication from the department to external parties including to EnerSys Group
- The role is responsible for flow down of business information from the senior management team
- The role is responsible for clear communication of technical issues within the project team
- The role is responsible for communication of Product Assurance matters to customers (for example, Mandatory Inspection Points, Non-conformances)
- The role is responsible for customer chain communications on Product Assurance matters (for example, arranging Non-Conformance Review Boards)
- A degree in a STEM subject, equivalent qualification or industry experience
- A strong knowledge and understanding of European Space Industry standards (ECSS)
- An ability to interpret European Space Industry standards (ECSS) and develop compliant solutions
- Experience delivering PA management on spacecraft projects
- A strong understanding of configuration control principles
- A business minded and process driven attitude
- Customer facing experience
- A focus on mentoring and developing others, leading the continued development and maintenance of a solutions-oriented culture within the Technical Solutions team
- A drive to coach PA Managers / Engineers/ Inspectors to manage the Product Assurance project delivery requirements, design reviews/ gates/ milestones, and the Non-conformance process
- An ability to analyse workload forecast; be able to effectively prioritise and work to detailed scheduled plans and tight deadlines
- Excellent people skills; a proven team worker but with an ability to work independently
- The ability to delegate tasks and support team members working on multiple projects
- An ability to manage resources, delivery and activities to ensure the right people are available in the right job, to meet current and future business needs
- Strong skills with MS Office / Office 365 suite of programmes
- An ability to report key performance metrics, propose solutions, and take ownership to deliver improvements
