Job Description We are looking for a Public Health School Nurse to join our integrated 0 – 19 City wide service in Newcastle upon Tyne. The post holder will be expected to lead and manage a public health school nursing team within an evidence-based child and family centred public health service. Focusing on actively promoting health, early intervention and prevention, assessing health needs and vulnerability within the school age population to enable the delivery of the healthy child programme. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay The successful applicant will be a proactive and motivated individual with a strong approach to teamwork but who can also work on their own initiative to meet the constantly changing needs of service users in line with local and national public health targets. This will involve working collaboratively with Newcastle schools in partnership with community and multiagency services. A key focus for Newcastle 0-19 service is to demonstrate positive health outcomes. In order to achieve this we actively engage with children and families and aim to shape our service in order to optimise making a difference. The Public Health School Nurse assesses clients’ needs, then plans and evaluates care which is implemented by them or delegated to the skill mix team members. This is done in collaboration with the client, other members of the Primary Health Care team and / or other agencies. Public Health School Nurses working in Newcastle receive and provide regular clinical supervision and appraisals as part of developing leadership skills and ensuring a quality service.
