Morgan Stanley Investment Research is one of the financial industry's dominant thought leaders in equity and fixed-income investing. Our teams collaborate to assist Morgan Stanley clients with investment decisions, using cash and derivative instruments across major asset classes and geographies. The Global FXEM Strategy team is seeking a strategist to join the team in London to focus on emerging markets within the CEEMEA region. The primary responsibility would be to cover the FX and rates/bond markets in South Africa, Turkey, Egypt and other markets as appropriate, working alongside existing team members covering CEE. There is also the opportunity to work and support lead analysts within the credit strategy team covering these same markets.

What will you be doing?
  • You will be able to take part in all aspects of the research production – from idea generation, data analysis, report writing and then promoting to clients.
  • You will have responsibility for the team’s views on the FX, rates and local currency bond markets of the countries under your coverage. You will develop investment ideas, trade recommendations and promote these to internal external clients.
  • As a strategist you can expect to learn from and work with senior members of the team on specific projects, collaborate with a variety of different teams within the research department and also work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:
  • You have a strong academic background with a degree in a business related field, or equivalent.
  • A strong interest in global macro and Emerging Markets is a critical pre-requisite for the role, including in both macroeconomics and financial market issues.
  • Previous product knowledge and work experience of FX and interest rate markets is essential.
  • Statistical and quantitative skills with a background in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of various coding languages packages.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and interact effectively with other research teams across the firm.
  • High self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate competence with numerical concepts and tools.

Certified Persons Regulatory Requirements:
This role is deemed as a Certified role and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
