The department

The Commercial Real Estate team has teams in London, Oxford, Guildford, Cambridge and Basingstoke. The national team advise on all areas of commercial real estate from large scale development to social housing.

The work conducted by the Oxford Commercial Real Estate team tends to be in the following areas

  • Investment acquisitions
  • Landlord and Tenant
  • Mixed Use Development
  • Oxford Colleges

Summary of role

Our real estate team is looking to hire a paralegal to join the busy post-completions team in Oxford. The role provides exposure to high quality work and offers responsibility, direct client contact and training in a supportive environment. The team deals with all aspects of SDLT and land registration, including providing advice to assist with deal structuring, so the successful candidate will be expected to become an expert on SDLT. They should have strong academics, excellent organisational skills, be self-motivated, hardworking and up for a challenge. While previous experience is preferred, it is not required. This role is a good opportunity for the right person to progress within the firm. Our paralegals in this team always do very well, whether it be securing training contracts with us, or other firms due to the fantastic training and experience offered.

The firm operates a hybrid agile working policy allowing employees to work from home (or another UK location) for at least 50% of their time. Individuals can also apply for other flexible working options either at the time of recruitment or during the course of their employment.



Essential and desirable criteria

The individual:

  • Degree or CILEX qualified
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • IT literate, confident user of MS office
  • Ability to manage a busy workload and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work both alone and collaboratively with other team members
  • Confidence in client facing communications
  • Attention to accuracy and detail
  • Collaborative team member with ability to quickly build relationships with a wide range of people
  • Receptive to facilitate and support change
  • Sound organisational skills; flexible, pragmatic and problem-solving approach
  • Comfortable working under pressure with the ability to plan and prioritise work; appreciation of fee earner needs and constraints; commercially aware
