The School Nursing team in Herefordshire are looking for a fulltime School Nurse Assistant to join their team.
The School Nurse Assistant role will involve assisting in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 as part of the public health nursing service in Herefordshire. You will work under the supervision of a School Nurse and help to improve the health and well-being of school aged children and part of this role will involve planning, organising and participation in the National Childhood Measurement Programme for Reception and Year 6 children.
We are committed to providing a high quality service to our children and families, therefore the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to use with children and young people and they will be able to work well as part of a team as well as independently. The service embraces technology and an experience of using electronic patient recording systems such as EMIS would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the candidate.
You must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car for work in order to undertake the duties within this role.
- To participate in the National Child Measurement Programme.
- To liaise with the named school nurse who has delegated the work to ensure a comprehensive, safe and effective programme of care is developed to suit the individual child and family.
- To appropriately refer children and families onto other services as required.
- To provide health advice and support to school aged children and families in a setting that is suitable.
- To recognise safeguarding concerns and seek supervision as required.
- To support and monitor selected families with child in need plans and child protection plans including attending and contributing to written reports for case conferences, planning meetings and case reviews.
- To work individually and as part of a team.
- To work in accordance with the trust policy and protocols.
