Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Clinical Coding to join and lead our exceptional Clinical Coding Department. You will manage a high performing, highly skilled team with a range of roles including Senior Clinical Coders, auditors, trainers and team leaders.

Investment has recently been made into the Clinical Coding Department and you will play a key role in utilising these resources to maintain and progress an efficient, well supported and forward looking department.

You will benefit from the experience of the clinical coding senior team and will work together in delivering a high quality service to a range of Trust stakeholders, including; senior clinicians, operational managers, income and costing accountants and the business intelligence department.

Your advanced communication skills, knowledge of clinical coding and management experience will all help you to thrive in this key NHS role.

The post holder will, through responsibility for the management and continuing professional development of the Clinical Coding Team, ensure the quality and timeliness of coding of all admitted episodes of care.

The post holder will work autonomously, interpreting available clinical coding guidelines and classifications and will play an active role in wider data quality improvement initiatives taking place within the Trust such as Information Governance, Elective Recovery Funding and the implementation patient administration system changes.
