Job Description An exciting opportunity has arisen for Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners to join an established team of qualified and trainee ACPs within the Emergency Department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will work across all areas of the Emergency Department to assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated diagnoses. The Emergency Department, situated at the Hull Royal Infirmary site, is an accredited major trauma centre for adults and children. The recently renovated department benefits from: a purpose built 10 bay adult resuscitation area modern and dedicated children’s area with 2 designated resuscitation rooms and a separate waiting area a large open plan majors area with glass fronted assessment rooms, including 5 monitored rooms an adjacent CT scanner to facilitate rapid diagnosis of a range of conditions excellent education links If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding position we would welcome your application. We are therefore looking for registered healthcare professionals (with the ability to attain independent prescriber status) who have the drive, ambition and positivity to make this role succeed. You will be undertaking independent and supplementary prescribing as part of the MSc Advanced Practice at the University of Hull. Please note, this role involves working across all areas of the Emergency Department, including paediatrics, and will eventually involve a 24/7 working pattern once qualified. We have a dedicated ACP consultant physician who provides weekly training to support knowledge & skill acquisition and progress your training needs. You will also be allocated a consultant clinical supervisor and a qualified ACP buddy to support your transition into the department. You will benefit from dedicated weekly non-clinical time to support your growth across all 4 pillars of advanced practice. You will undertake a 6 month rotation in the paediatric emergency department and a 2 month rotation in acute medical services. You will be expected and supported to gain provider status for ALS, ATLS and EPLS with provision to support instructor status if desired. On successful completion of in-house capability requirements you will progress to Agenda for Change Band 8a qualified ACP status. You will have continued support thereafter to complete your portfolio for successful RCEM credentialing in both adult and paediatric care. Training is initially full time, with a minimum requirement to work 30hrs per week whilst working towards RCEM credentialing. Hours of work will be between the hours of 7am and 8pm in year 1 of training, with evening and weekend work being introduced dependent on portfolio and educational progression. Applicants with experience of Masters level study and/or current Advanced Practice experience may have a shorter training time; a portfolio assessment will be undertaken and an individualised training pathway will be created.
