Our current way of working supports a hybrid approach and the preference of home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager to achieve the right balance between collaboration, in-person engagement and flexibility. Your main base would be Victoria Quay, Edinburgh with the opportunity to work from our Glasgow hub office.
These roles are advertised initially on a 18 month fixed-term appointment basis with the potential for conversion to permanency.

We are currently seeking applications for Tax Operations Assistants into our Tax Operations Team. You will provide administrative support by preparing and issuing correspondence to the public and their representatives, relating to Tax Operations administrative functions. This may include mailing, repayments, penalties and recovery of unpaid debts
The posts would be suited to candidates who can demonstrate excellent customer service while building trust and rapport, providing a positive experience for all who contact Revenue Scotland.

Your main duties will be to:

Update and maintain internal databases (including the tax collection system) relating to all types of tax transactions.

Answer Support desk telephone calls.

Prepare and issue correspondence to taxpayers and agents

Process mail including assigning to relevant teams.

Learn how to undertake tax return checks and identify any follow up actions.

Handle sensitive and personal information in line with confidentiality rules
Additionally, you will support colleagues and other team members in carrying out daily work activities as and when new project/tasks arise.

Your main base would be Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, and you must be able to attend Victoria Quay in person when required.

Please note the recruitment process consists of an assessment and a competency based interview. You will be provided with information about the assessment if you are invited to interview.
Time in post:
You will be expected to remain in post for the period of the appointment unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.
If further posts are required, a reserve list of successful candidates will be kept for up to 9 months
