Job Description We have full time and part time vacancies for enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Assistants. (37.5 hours full time, 21 hours part time) You will be part of the Early Years and community clinic teams working with speech and language therapists for childrenwith autism spectrum disorderand their families. You will provide intervention for social communication disorders and language and speech delays and disorders. You will support our Drop in Advice clinics across the Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock. You will provide the intervention to families using intensive interaction and adult and parent interaction approaches (Language Focused Play) and support with Picture Exchange Communication and other visuals. You will provide therapy as described by the therapist for speech sound difficulties. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Speech & Language Therapy (SALT) Assistant for this exciting role . Your key responsibilities will include: Working with pre school and school aged children in the local clinic , preschool settings or home following a care plan written by the therapist Supporting children and families with autistic spectrum disorders or social communication difficulties, language delay and disorder or speech sound delays Working as part of a multi-professional team in partnership with families. Coaching / Training families and professionals. Reporting back to therapist on children's progress and supporting their targets. Carrying out administration duties relating to supporting children with communication needs Preparing resources for sessions and training Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are 'exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
