The post is based in a very busy, modern and well equipped Imaging department, with rotation of duties across imaging sites. The successful applicant will work closely with the radiographers and nursing staff in fulfilling the commitment to provide a high quality service to patients undergoing diagnostic and minor interventional procedures. The successful candidate will coordinate with the inpatient waiting areas; assist Radiologists with minor procedures and provide support to the Interventional Service as required. Candidates must have a flexible approach and a strong work ethic in this busy environment to meet the needs of the service.
Brief Description of the Role:
Contribute as part of the imaging team to the diagnostic imaging process, maintaining high standards of care, standards, competence, manner, punctuality and appearance. The job description will be reviewed periodically as part of the performance appraisal system and may be subject to change with the agreement of the post holder and senior nurse or Superintendent Radiographer.

PRIMARY DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Contribute as part of the imaging team to the diagnostic imaging process.
- Maintain high standards of appearance, manner, punctuality and competence.
- Work as part of a well-motivated team.
- Preparation of the patient and work area for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic examinations.
- Receive messages and communicate effectively with other members of the team.
- Participate in clerical duties including patient registration, EPR and radiology information computer system as required. Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the imaging process.
- Support and coordinate Radiologist/Radiographer intervention lists: biopsies, drainages, Chest drain, insertions, aspirations. Organise the pre procedure checks
- Escort patients both within and outside the department.
- Pay due attention to privacy, dignity and respect at all times
- Enable/assist patients to maintain their personal hygiene, aid in the dressing/undressing of patients and enable/assist patients with eating/drinking/toileting as required.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of consumable items in any of the work areas. Unpack stock as required, informing senior staff of discrepancies and shortages and contribute to ordering replacements.
- Contribute to maintaining cleanliness of equipment, cassettes, accessories and the generalwork environment within the department.
- Contribute to the health & safety and security of individuals and the workplace.
- Participate in developments relating to clinical governance including audit and quality control duties.
- Any other duties that may be relevant to the achievement of the NVQ Level 2 or 3competencies.
- To undertake duties outside of normal working hours, including occasional nights, eveningsand weekends as required.
- To be aware of and observe all relevant Directorate, Trust and legislative policies and procedures including Health & safety at work, COSHH, Data protection act, Ionising Radiation Regulations, fire, control of infection and Major incident.
- Have the physical capability to work in all areas of the department or designated areas as required, and have strong work ethic
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be necessary due to change of practice within the Department from time to time, commensurate with grade for this post, and under the supervision of Lead Radiographer/Nursing Sisters.
