Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Main Outpatient Department Based at Freeman Hospital with occasional working across directorate, for a part time Phlebotomist. The hours required to work would be 30 hours per week worked over 5 days flexible to the needs of the service .

It is essential that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and under own direction. You will need manual dexterity of a level to perform phlebotomy duties. Basic IT skills along with good literacy and numeracy skills will be needed. The post requires a substantial amount of patient movement ensuring correct positioning of the arm prior to venepuncture.

The post is suitable for individuals who wish to develop clinical skills to support the specialty teams by delivering quality care by providing Phlebotomy Services. We are a large and busy unit providing services to multiple specialties and you will work closely with the Nursing and Medical Staff within Outpatients.

The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of safe and effective care. Phlebotomists perform venepuncture and blood collection as requested by Medical/Nursing Staff. They ensure blood samples are labelled correctly and returned to the laboratory in a timely fashion.

By working with colleagues, provide a directorate wide phlebotomy service in allocated clinical areas.
To perform venepuncture blood collection as requested by medical/nursing staff.
