We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sessional Tutor delivering Functional Skills.
We have a variety of sessions available Monday to Friday. Our sessions are flexible, an average of 7.5 to 15 hours per week. Salary is £22-£25 per hour dependent on skills and experience.
As a Functional Skills Tutor you will be supporting students aged 16-18 to achieve their functional skills qualifications in both, Maths and English, ICT up to Level 2. We are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor who can motivate and inspire our students to achieve their full potential whilst on our programme. Main Duties
·Undertake lesson planning in consultation with the Centre Manager, including submission of the scheme(s) of work and lesson plans.
·Set challenging teaching and learning objectives that are relevant to the curriculum and needs of learners.
·To help set and achieve ambitious and challenging targets demonstrating a commitment to excellence and inclusion.
·Systematically assess learners' work giving timely and constructive feedback on progress to support learners as they achieve.
·Keep accurate records of punctuality, attendance, assessment and learner progress.
·Assist with internal and external assessments, exams and standardisation.
·To ensure a safe inclusive learning environment.
·Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable adults.
You must have previous teaching experience and be able to work with a range of learners including some who may be challenging at times and some who will have moderate learning difficulties. Essential Skills:
- Previous experience in working with groups of young people with specific barriers to learning
- Relevant Functional Skills or Maths and English Experience.
- A Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
- Full Teaching Qualifications I.e. Cert Ed, C&G7407, CTTLS, DTTLS
- A Minimum of GCSE C grade or level 4 in Maths and English
- Excellent Classroom management skills.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in delivering training or supporting young people 14-19.
- TAQA Award in Assessing or Verifying.
- Have led projects involving young people.
