An opportunity has arisen for a part-time, permanent social worker post in our new Early Help Team. The successful candidate will preferably have experience of working in a statutory childcare team.
The role will require you to hold a caseload which periodically will include child protection cases. You will be expected to undertake comprehensive assessments and consider the whole family wellbeing, supporting families to address a range of needs and difficulties. In addition, you will be involved in parenting support and care planning. You will be expected to work in line with the principles of “Getting it Right for Every Child” putting inter-agency working at the forefront of your practice. There are resources and services available to you to support your work with children and young people who will range from age 0-17.
You should have excellent report writing skills, the ability to prioritise your workload and may be required to make referrals to and present your assessment to Initial Child Protection Case Conferences and/or to the Children's Reporter. You will be responsible for accurate and up to date case recording. You will liaise with partner agencies to identify and implement robust child's plans to meet the needs of children and young people.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated Social Worker to join our team with a genuine interest in supporting children and their families. It is important that you display sensitivity, respectfulness, patience and compassion and respect confidentiality at all times.
On-going professional development relating to the role will be offered.
You will have a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or an equivalent qualification and demonstrate continued professional development.
You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
You will be required to demonstrate experience and knowledge of working with current social work legislation, regulations and standards.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of multi-disciplinary working and be committed to working closely with colleagues from other disciplines. You will also be able to evidence sound/robust assessment, preferably having experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments or have transferable skills.
You must be able to work effectively within a team and demonstrate a commitment to improve current service provision.
You will be a confident communicator, both written and verbally and have good IT skills and be flexible to meet the demands of this post.

This post may be suitable for candidates who have recently completed their Social Work Degree but have not yet graduated. In this circumstance, a Social Work Assistant contract will be offered until you receive your qualifying certificate and are eligible to register with the SSSC as a Social Worker.
