Year Leader
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Permanent
Grade: Teaching Main Scale/Upper Pay Scale plus London Fringe plus TLR2B
Focused on delivering Excellence for All, The Hertfordshire & Essex High School provides a vibrant and welcoming working environment in a popular, non-selective school with an excellent academic record. Rated as an ‘outstanding school with an outstanding sixth form’ in our last Ofsted inspection, Herts & Essex provides an excellent educational experience for students, and a first-rate experience for staff looking to develop their careers in education.
The School is now looking to appoint a Year Leader to join its pastoral support team to ensure the effective pastoral care for a year group within the school. It is expected that the post holder will take responsibility for a year group in the sixth form, although Year Leaders might be asked to work with any of the year groups within the School.
The post holder will oversee the welfare, attendance, behaviour, appearance and pastoral care of their year group. They will be responsible for the academic progress of students in their year group, ensuring that appropriate pastoral care is provided, and lead and develop a team of Form Tutors.
This is a teaching role and there will be some teaching responsibilities. Applicants should be an outstanding teacher with some experience of working within pastoral support systems to meet the needs of students.
Applicants should also have experience of dealing with inclusion, behaviour and attendance issues. They should have the ability to raise pupil achievement across a year group, the ability to create a fun, challenging and effective learning environment and be sensitive, caring and responsive to the needs of young people. Some experience working with outside agencies such as health services, social services or the police would also be advantageous. As the role is likely to involve working with Sixth Formers, experience of the university and college application process (UCAS) and understanding of post-18 opportunities would be useful.
Due to the School not having a sponsorship licence, we regret that we are unable to consider applications from those who do not have the right to live or work in the UK.
Closing date: 23.59 on Tuesday 18 April 2023
We reserve the right to form a short list once sufficient suitable applications have been received. Early application is therefore encouraged.
Should you have any queries about the post or should you have any difficulties submitting your application, please email: [email protected] or call the school on 01279 654127.
