It is equally important to the business that working for Applied is fulfilling and advances personal growth.
About the role
Applied Information Group is looking for a talented full-time mid-level Industrial Designer with a passion for wayfinding and design that supports people navigating their environments. Industrial design at Applied is growing and you will be a crucial member to both support this growth, and bring fresh thinking across multiple live projects.
You will be a proactive thinker who works alongside Applied’s design and planning teams to deliver interior and exterior wayfinding systems from concept to implementation. Your work will be centred on the design of signage object design and placemaking elements. You will be tasked with design detailing in respect to scale, considered integration with surroundings/architecture, colour, materials, finish and production methods – especially with respect to the potential environmental impact of a design. You will be expected to be involved at every stage of the product design process. The broad areas your work will cover will include:
- Research
- Concept development
- Sign manufacturer liaison
- Quality and cost control
- Design intent technical drawings and supporting material
- Implementation
- Knowledge share
Although working across multiple projects at any one time, you will be provided the time and space to ideate and craft beautiful and functional industrial design solutions, whilst supported by Applied’s lead Industrial Designer.
The role will include travel opportunities and at times will require some flexibility to accommodate colleagues and clients located in different timezones.
You will have:
- A bachelor’s and/or a master’s level degree in industrial design and/or product design.
- 3 to 5 years professional product/industrial design working experience.
- A portfolio that demonstrates industrial design excellence and a dedication to the craft of your final designs, including strong hand and CAD-based 3D visualisations skills.
- The ability to talk and write articulately about your decision making and the developmental work behind your designs. At Applied we like design thinkers who champion the meaningful as much as the beautiful. This relates to communication within your internal teams, as well as external teams and our clients.
- Competent time management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with Project Leads with whom you are working.
- An understanding of material selection and graphic application methods, alongside an awareness of industry standards, whilst striving to deliver fresh and creatively exciting work.
- An expert eye for detail, and share our motivation to deliver designs of the highest quality. Applied prides itself on big ideas delivered with fine details.
- The ability to conduct relevant research to support project deliverables and objectives and present your findings clearly and logically.
- An appreciation for graphic and information design disciplines and the ultimate aims of Applied to deliver information to users.
Proficiency in
