We are hiring for 1 permanent post and 1 fixed term post until Feb 2023 (secondment cover)
The Transformation & Improvement Project Manager role will lead and support the development and delivery of programmes to enable improvement in efficiency, productivity, quality and use of resources across the Trust. The post holder will be required to lead the delivery of projects, engage and develop key stakeholder relationships across the Trust to maximize quality, productivity and efficiency and ensure safe clinical / operational processes are embedded and maintained along with ensuring the project transitions successfully into service delivery. On completion, learning and output from this project will be shared with the Trust and across other organisations where the same approach could be implemented. This will involve large scale and sustainable change across the trust as we move away from existing and outdated processes. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to support the Improvement Team in developing the quality improvement approach within the Trust, and any monitoring and reporting activities associated with these work streams and deputise when needed for the Associate Director of Improvement.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the management and delivery of tasks throughout the project lifecycle ensuring delivery against stated outcomes
- Lead and support the delivery of transformation and improvement projects, supporting the realisation of significant strategic objectives
- Work in partnership with clinical leads to form and sustain effective clinical collaboration for the workstream
- To utilise specialist knowledge and experience related to the use of network models and improvement methodologies to achieve step changes in quality across complex pathways and systems of care
- Work with business colleagues to ensure all activity is delivered as an integrated piece of change covering people, process, data, and technology supporting the business case.
- Lead a team in the delivery of project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the project. . Actively adhere to the project delivery framework covering lifecycle management, documentation, prioritisation, governance etc. that can flex appropriate to the degree of business change
- Build effective relationships with key suppliers establishing confidence and respect in often contentious pressurised situations
- Analyse, interpret and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making.

- Take a proactive and full role as a key senior member of the Improvement Team
Enabling, supporting, and contributing to the overall success of the Trusts Improvement Programme and underpin the Trust strategy and objectives in your specialist areas, using your previous knowledge and involvement in large scales programmes and projects
- When necessary, contribute to the re-assessment and re-planning activities to readdress priority issues to ensure successful delivery, adjusting and adapting plans to support the organisations requirements as the situation changes and develops to best suit the needs of the overarching Programme and Trust
- Work closely with Stakeholders at all levels, influencing, facilitating, and supporting clinical, operational, and non-clinical staff across the Trust as a senior change subject matter expert and representative of the Improvement Team ensuring minimal disruption to services during implementation and gaining efficient and effective benefits and outcomes
- Attend and participate at various local, regional, national groups, forums, and workshops, as required and appropriate
- Demonstrable competence in using Windows based software such as MS Office365 including Teams.
Demonstrable experience in using project management methodologies such as Agile, Prince2 and/or tools such as MS Project.
- Ensure project documentation is reviewed, updated, and tailored, and new processes are fully embedded and working where possible, to facilitate transfer into business as usual
- Plan handover and ensure a smooth knowledge transfer to business-as-usual teams, provide support to ensure projects are effectively established as business-as-usual operational functions and recognition of any further optimisation and benefit realisation activities with responsible owners
