Job Description

THIS POST IS A FIXED TERM TRAINEE POST FOR 2 YEARS

Audiology Associate Practitioner (Fast-Track)

Audiology

Cardiff & Vale University Health Board, South Wales

An exciting opportunity exists to enter the NHS Audiology career pathway as an Associate Practitioner in Audiology. This would particularly suit science graduates who wish to apply science in the direct care of others. Individual posts will be based at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, within a supportive Audiology department familiar with training provision at this level. Individuals will complete a Certificate of Higher Education in Basic Audiological Practice through block release at Swansea University. However, the majority of training will be delivered in the clinical setting, supporting a range of clinical activities but primarily caring for adult patients at the base hospital. It is anticipated that employment prospects in Wales will be promising for those completing the training scheme. Work is underway nationally to facilitate next step progression through the career pathway to roles as Audiologists, for those individuals with aptitude and commitment to do so.

These fixed term training posts are part of a Welsh Government funded initiative that complements the recent launch of a new Framework of Action for hearing loss in Wales.

This post is fixed term for 2 years - Trainee post

We are looking for enthusiastic trainees who have an aptitude for learning and previous scientific education. The job role requires the ability to communicate effectively with hearing impaired people of all ages and their families. The job requires the ability to work as part of a large team and also to prioritise your own workload. Audiology is a fast paced environment with every changing technology so the successful candidate should be flexible, able to adapt to change and also able to travel to off site locations, including domiciliary visits in patients homes.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
