Conversational AI technology is the backbone of Admiral's new customer engagement team. Over the next few years, we will continue to bolster our natural language capability and move towards conversational design to service our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile team in which you will develop a new project to transform how customers interact with Admiral.
We are a new team building a new cloud-native product with NLU (Natural Language Understanding) technologies and customer centre integrations. We use tools such as Google Cloud Platform, Dialogflow, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Git.

This role is open to remote candidates.
About you
You'll work across various things as a new team using multiple technologies. We don't expect you to be an expert at everything, but you must be flexible and willing to learn. If so, we'll do everything we can to ensure you can work on anything and everything. That could mean writing serverless code using Javascript, writing infrastructure code using Terraform or building automated test code that makes phone calls to test the system end-to-end.
Responsibilities:
Adherence to all relevant coding technologies to defined standards.
- Responsible for generating good unit test coverage and solid version control.
- Assist in introducing emerging technologies and their suitability to business demands.
- Production of technical and functional specifications where applicable.
- Support the team's agile ways of working and contribute towards its continuous improvements.
- Working directly with the product owners and the business to develop solutions to support the product roadmap.
- Work with the Chapter Lead and other engineers to help to develop and promote the long-term technical strategy.
- Support the deployment of changes into the production environment and aid in investigating live issues or incidents.
- Learning new skills and technologies that will help the team and yourself.
Essential Experience and Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of Javascript, including of node and its ecosystem.
- Strong working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of building on public cloud platforms (GCP a bonus)
- Experience with CI/CD tools.
- Experience with modern version-control systems, such as Git.
- Good working knowledge of unit testing and test-driven development.
- Strong knowledge of web technologies and working with APIs (e.g. REST).
- Understanding of agile methodologies and practices.
- Ability to design solutions and cater for non-functional requirements such as performance and security.
- Good communication skills to present effectively to peers and stakeholders.
Technical Skills (desirable):
- Experience working with databases, whether RDBMS or NoSQL.
- Experience with Typescript.
- Knowledge of NLU technologies.
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with CPaaS (Communication Platforms as a Service) and/or voice platforms platforms.
The first stage of the process, will be a technical assessment. Second stage will be an interview which will commence in due course via Microsoft Teams.
