The Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery & Dermatology Departments are based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and is one of the largest and most highly respected units of its kind in the UK.
The department is excited to be able to offer the opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking Waiting List Officer to join our team. You will work alongside the Senior Waiting List Co-ordinator, Medical Secretaries and Clinicians carrying out duties which will include scheduling patients for surgery, dealing with telephone queries from patients and colleagues, using the Trusts.

Previous NHS experience and an understanding of waiting list management are desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
You will provide a comprehensive and efficient waiting list management function to the medical teams within Plastic Surgery and Dermatology.
You should be able to integrate well with the existing team, be flexible in supporting the needs of the service and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients.

- Support the Admissions and Out Patients Manager to ensure a systematic approach for delivering the NHS Plan commitments for access to elective and day case surgery.
- Manage the admissions to maximise theatre use according to the wishes of the Consultant and their team.
- Organise waiting lists to ensure that maximum waiting time targets are met whilst Patient Choice is not compromise
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
