As the Operations Manager you will be accountable for ensuring that the Clitheroe Manufacturing Site operates in a safe, reliable, and sustainable manner ensuring that the Site can meet current and future Catalyst Technologies’ manufacturing production requirements.
This role is part of the Site Leadership Team whilst also deputising for the Site Manager, and manages all aspects of production, continuous improvement, and growth of the Site’s operations capability in terms of safety, quality, reliability, capacity, cost efficiency, as well as the development of the people and operations culture within the area of control.
Clitheroe is an Upper Tier COMAH site running a multiple of manufacturing plants producing Catalysts and Absorbents in powder, pellet and pill forms.
Catalyst Technologies (CT) is a market leader in the syngas value chain. It develops and supplies high-value, specialty process technology and catalysts for chemicals and fuels processing to enable our customers to operate efficiently, profitably and sustainably. With CT at the forefront of the transition to sustainable chemicals and fuels, the transition to net zero is creating exciting new opportunities in this sector.
Your responsibilities:

Maintain the Site’s license to operate by managing operational activities in compliance with COMAH, EA and all relevant UK EHS legislation, ISO 14001,and 18001 & JM EHS standards

Deliver products to expected quality specifications in line with business expectations

Manage and constantly improve safe and effective adherence to JM EHS standards, procedures, and Life Saving Policies

Drive and maintain an operational culture which learns from experience and constantly looks to improve EHS performance of the Site

Drive and own a Continuous Improvement philosophy, delivering improvements across site

Ensure plants operate to the agreed variable and fixed costs, driving continuous improvement in cost control within manufacturing operations

Ensure accurate capacity planning, delivery of production plans, and drive improvements on capacity efficiency and growth

Sponsor asset and infrastructure improvements on Site through Capex and Improvement Projects to deliver current and future business requirements

Manage the manufacture of New Product Innovation (NPI) initiatives

Structure, develop, coach, and lead the production teams

Formulate and own Site Strategic Objectives, tracking progress whilst maintain agility

Act as the Site Manager’s deputy when required and act as a Duty Manager in line with the site Duty Manager Rota
Requirements for the role:
-
Extensive related High Hazard Manufacturing/ Production experience
-
Experience in multi-plant operations management within a world-class global environment
-
Experience managing professional level and semi-skilled people, and multiple teams through other team managers

Experience implementing strategic capital projects and change programmes
-
Experience working within £million budgets
-
Process safety risk management knowledge and experience (ideally COMAH)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Chemistry, or other scientific/technical subject (desirable)

Experience of working within COMAH regulations on an Upper or Lower Tier accredited Site (desirable)

IOSH Managing Safety qualification (desirable)
