These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. HMCTS offers a flexible working system in many of its offices, subject to business needs being met.
New recruits to the Civil Service joining MoJ are expected to join at the band minimum.
Existing Civil Servants applying on promotion will usually be appointed on the salary minimum of the pay band or with an increased salary of 10% on their existing base salary (restricted to the new pay band maximum), whichever is the higher.
Existing Civil Servants moving at the same grade will retain their existing remuneration package.

Job Title: Judicial Liaison Assistant
Pay Span or equivalent: AO
The key purpose of the role is to
Support the Head of the Judicial Liaison, the Judicial Liaison Managers and the Judicial Liaison Officers in ensuring the business needs of the region are met through the successful & efficient deployment of judicial resources.
The post holder is part of a small team responsible for effective planning and management of the judicial resources across the Region also dealing with other aspects of judicial administrative management. The post-holder will provide a key link to the Cluster and Courts particularly in relation to bookings for fee-paid judiciary.
Key responsibilities
Operations
- Act as first point of contact for the booking of fee paid judiciary
- Process bookings for fee paid judiciary.
- Update court sitting patterns & itineraries with agreed changes & circulate as necessary.
- Ensure all records & databases are maintained promptly & 100% accurate
- Assist in the production of sitting plans and resource schedules for efficient service delivery
- Accurately input, update and maintain relevant resource planning systems and records as required.
- Assist in the preparation of reports as required.
- Support and assist in all aspects of planning activities
- Circulate sitting day and other judicial reports to Clusters and Courts as required
Administration- Deal with incoming correspondence and queries.
- Maintain records for all business performance related operational documentation, publications and materials.
- Undertake additional support and administrative related assignments as directed.
- Provide administrative support for:
o Training
o Swearing-ins arrangements
o Maintaining databases & spreadsheets
o Running reports & queries
Drafting
- Draft correspondence as required.
Processing casework
- Assist with the daily management of objectives to ensure targets and deadlines are met.
Checking and verifying:
- Ensure compliance and administration documentation meet quality standards.
Collecting and assembling information:
- Collect and process data, for the team to present management reports.
Undertaking calculations:
- Process some financial information and produce basic statistical analysis reports.
Contacting the public, juries, the judiciary, other court and tribunal users and representatives of other agencies and Organisations.
- Effectively communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders including court and tribunal staff, Judiciary, court and tribunal end users on all resource issues to highlight potential challenges.
- Assist the Presiding and/or Family Liaison Judges or their representatives as directed.
Accountability
- Reporting to the Judicial Liaison Officer

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.
