Activities Co-Ordinator
We are currently hiring for an Activities Co-ordinator, to work with us on a full time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday. Based at Forest Lodge, a newly refurbished 45 bedded care home in East London.
As an Activities Coordinator, you'll design and implement a timetable of activities that service users may find entertaining, engaging and educational, to help ensure they are living a meaningful, fulfilling life.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Design a timetable for activities and to ensure that patients participate according to the timetable.
- Implement this timetable with our service users on both a group and a 1 to 1 basis.
- To act as an escort in conjunction with another member of staff, for patients who require two escorts when going out in the community (considered as the second staff member during these occasions)
- To act as a coordinator for in-house activities, including planning and implementing leisure activities within Glenhurst Lodge
- To organise person centred activities on a 1 to 1 basis and analyse and record the participation according to each individual attendants
- To run any errands in the community which do not require the input of clinical staff but which would usually fall to ward staff (i.e. dropping blood samples to surgery if needed)
- To report any specific problems to the Senior Nurse in Charge concerning the conduct and behaviour of residents or staff whilst being transported
- To assist/supervise the residents whilst boarding and alighting vehicles
- To ensure residents/staff are seated in the vehicles according to protocols to reduce risk
- To ensure that safety standards are maintained at all times.(e.g. ensuring that doors are properly closed and seatbelts are fastened), meeting any specific resident needs
- (Desirable)To be the driver for Glenhurst Lodge vehicles for residents engaging in group activities, outings and individual activities/appointments in the community
About you
Experience and skillset:
- Experience of working in a care environment
- Experience facilitating or co-facilitating groups
- Experience in recreational activities
- Commitment to promoting the needs of people with mental health problems and their carers
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users
- Great understanding of IT (capable with computers / phones etc.)
- (Desirable) Experience driving on UK roads (2+ years)
- (Desirable) Willingness to drive a variety of different size vehicles
Qualifications and certifications
- Full, clean driving license
- Good secondary education to GCSE level
- (Desirable) NVQ trained to either level 2 or 3
