Occupational Therapy Assistant
Headway Norfolk and Waveney supports adults whose lives have been impacted by brain injury, including those affected by conditions such as stroke and encephalitis, to come to terms with their new circumstances, re-integrate into family and community life, and maximize their opportunities, choices and independence.
We are looking for a full time Occupational Therapy Assistant covering a variety of client facing, admin and projects across Norfolk and Waveney, although most of the work will be based in the Norwich area. We welcome applications for job shares and can offer flexibility to our colleagues. You will need to hold a clean driving licence and have a vehicle to access various sites across Norfolk. Expenses will be paid for travel beyond your work base, which could be either Norwich, King's Lynn or Great Yarmouth.
Responsibilities will be:
- Undertake delegated work to assist the OT’s in providing therapy within the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of the College of Occupational Therapists.
- Delivering peer support groups, in-reaching into hospitals and assisting with other duties
- To carry out planned treatment programme as directed by OT’s
- Monitoring and supporting client’s goals and working with support staff to achieve them
- Liaise with the OT team and operational teams.
- Write support / care plans to a high standard
- Deliver and develop various groups as required by the OT team
- Have a flexible and adaptable attitude to working with the OT and other teams.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of working with people with brain injury or who are neuro divergent and a good understanding of the challenges they and their families face
- Experience and understanding of goal setting
- Ability to liaise with other health care professionals and key support workers to provide a high quality cohesive service
- The ability to work with support, within a developing and challenging environment
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Confidence in delivering face to face and virtual groups
- A desire and willingness to take on a challenge and extra training
- Adaptability and flexibility to work across the whole service as requested by the Occupational Therapy team
- Must hold a clean driving licence with a means of transport to travel to various locations
- Good IT skills using Microsoft packages and Nourish with a willingness to learn Outcome star and other software.

Salary: £21,923.98 - 23,258.52 FTE pro rata
Holiday: 33 days (pro rata on a 37.5 hour working week) inc bank holidays.
This is a very varied and rewarding role working under the supervision of the Occupational Therapy team. Ideally you will have some experience working in a therapy setting and be keen to learn and develop your skills. You will work with clients both one to one and in groups and contribute to making a real difference to peoples lives.
