Maternity Support Worker

Job Description

The Conquest Hospital Maternity Unit is an acute obstetric unit offering 24hr care for both low and high risk pregnant people. You would be working as part of the midwifery team assisting the qualified staff with the care of the mother and baby under the supervision and direction of the midwife. You would be expected to actively partake in meeting the needs of parents, thus enhancing the delivery of care in accordance with agreed standards and guidelines.

• To support women throughout their pregnancy, labour and immediate postnatal period under the supervision and instruction of a registered midwife.
• To assist with the clinical care of women, including taking observations and performing blood tests.
• To assist in the care of newborns, including undertaking observations, performing tests, and providing assistance with infant feeding
• To assist the midwifery and obstetric teams in clinical care as required
• To maintain accurate records
• To assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment
