Job Description

We are looking for a Band 2 HCA's who can join and become part of our Adult Care Services Multi-disciplinary Team for our Community Hospital based in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate must display a broad level of initiative; confidently use informed judgement and sustain a calm, approachable and professional manner when engaging with patient, their relatives, colleagues and visitors. The post holder will be required to work independently while exhibiting a high degree of confidentiality throughout their work. They must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, manage and organise their work effectively.

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.
1. Facilitating and assisting patients with washing, dressing, shaving, teeth cleaning, hair care, nail care (hands and feet) and care of eyes, including spectacles.
2. Caring for toileting needs including changing.
3. Moving and handling of patients in and out of bed, wheelchair, toilet and bath. This is almost always with specialised equipment.
4. Facilitating and assisting with feeding and drinking, with patients who are unable to assist themselves.
5. Communicating and listening to patients, their families and carers.
6. Observing patients' behaviour and using distraction skills to avoid possible problems.
7. Taking blood pressures.
8. Urine testing.
To display competency when providing nursing care to the patients, therefore building trusting relationships between carer and patient.
To be aware of and practice good communication and social functions with patients and their families in order to build up trusting therapeutic relationships.
To assist at meal times ensuring meals are presentable, appropriate and that portions are monitored.
To be aware of all patients' dietary needs, especially special diets and how they differ from normal diets.
