Job Description
The plaster room provides a comprehensive Orthopaedic and Trauma plaster service for Fracture and orthopaedic clinic, outpatients, orthopaedics(adult and children) Theatres and paediatric physiotherapists.
The post holder needs to be professionally accountable and work according to the (AOP) Association of orthopaedic practitioners code of professional practice in
The assessment of care and health education needs
The development implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a range of casting techniques including Focus rigidity casts and have a wide range of casting skills with plaster of Paris and synthetic materials.
Candidates need to be mindful that the post will require flexibility of hours across the working week between the hours of 08:30 to 5pm, they will also need to be mindful of flexibility of working across all of our hospital sites.
To provide instruction to patients and carers regarding plaster care and encourage patient and carer involvement.
To ensure practice in casting and bracing techniques throughout the trust is underpinned by best practice/evidence based practice incorporating current advances in casting care.
To ensure patients safety, comfort, privacy and dignity are always maintained.
To contribute to effective structure of clinics.
To maintain a professional attitude in approach and appearance
To network effectively with similarly qualified colleagues to ensure best practice.
To keep appraised of current advances in casting care and facilitate their implementation for the benefit of the patients.
To support supervise and provide educational direction to clinic staff working within the plaster room environment.
