Job Description

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a well-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Medical Education team to provide strong administrative support to the key clinical team for Undergraduate Education at Newcastle Hospitals.

This is a full time substantive position.

You will be responsible for the organisation and running of educational courses, events and exams throughout the academic year and will work with a broad range of clinical and operational staff across Newcastle Hospitals, Mental Health Trusts, Primary Care and Newcastle Medical School.

You will be an experienced and motivated administrator who has an innovative and challenge seeking attitude to problem solving. You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience and have recent evidence of personal development. You will need to be computer literate, articulate, persuasive and able to work in an unpredictable environment. You should be an excellent team player and participate in developing and improving the service.

You will be the operational lead for a student year group of the course. You will work closely with the Year Group Clinical Lead and a Teaching Fellow in the delivery of the Year Group medical student curriculum outcomes and assessments across the year. Specifically, you will map students appropriately across all specialties involved with training, work closely with specialty leads involved and produce accurate and timely timetables. You will also be required to provide all relevant information and resources to students and teachers.

You will work autonomously in resolving day to day issues and be first point of contact for any student questions that may arise.

You will be responsible for recruiting and allocating Academic Mentors and ensure they have received relevant training and guidance.

Additionally, you will oversee the quality of the delivery by analysing student evaluation and drawing up SMART action plans in resolving and improving course evaluation.

End of stage exams are extremely high stake and you will be responsible for leading on the organization and facilitation of these very important dates in the academic calendar. You must have strong leadership skills to ensure the success of these exams, the ability to guide and motivate the entire administrative and clinical team and co-ordinate the selection of patients required against examiner specialties.
