We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics and General Munitions (GM) Support Operative, based at Defence Munitions (DM) Honington.
In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working towards tight timelines and critical ammunition outputs for DM. You’ll be working outdoors and within a small team on tasks ranging from liaising with the distribution team, carrying out detailed checks on mechanical handling equipment, and loading trucks at the depot.
We will provide you training in explosives and non-explosives stores accounting and various logistics systems. Working in different ammunition process buildings, this role is full of variety and will give you the opportunity to learn more about Defence Munitions and the intricacies of working with these items.
This role is 100% site based at DM Honington on a full time, 37 hours a week basis. The usual hours are 07:00 – 15:00 Monday to Thursday, and 07:00 – 14:30 on Friday. The role will also require semi-frequent travel to our DM site in Kineton in Warwickshire for training purposes.
Above all, you will need to be accountable and diligent about safety processes and procedures to closely follow the guidance that means ammunition and explosives are handled in a safe, effective, and consistent way.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Ensure that munitions and explosives are handled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with Safe Systems of Work (Approval To Process) including but not limited to authorised procedures, risk assessments, manual handling & Care of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

Ensure that all issues and receipts of stores are thoroughly checked, paperwork is correctly completed and where applicable, building Net Explosive Quantity NEQ boards updated accordingly

Ensure all palletised loads are prepared and documented in accordance with the relevant Unit Load Specification

Competent to National Occupational Standard (NOS) Ordnance Munitions Explosives (OME) Operator in the through life management of explosive and non-explosive inventory warehousing activities including road

Carry out all manual/mechanical operations in a safe and recognised manner to comply with local and departmental policy and procedures.

Maintain a high standard of security, cleanliness and housekeeping within the explosives storage and processing facilities to prevent theft, accidents or damage to munitions and explosives.
