Once you have the necessary safety authorisations in place you’ll progress to becoming a Substation Engineer in our Solent team. You’ll lead on various projects within high voltage electricity substations, supervising team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure completion of maintenance, refurbishment or replacement works on a variety of plant and equipment including circuit breakers, transformers and protection systems.
Your development and training will continue, you will be surrounded by a fantastic team of experienced and professional Engineers that will support your development and progression every step of the way, with the aim of becoming a Commissioning Engineer, and eventually an Advanced Commissioning Engineer.
What are the requirements?
Your minimum qualification is a Level 3 in Electrical Engineering. You are experienced with HV plant and equipment and technically proficient in power systems theory; our tailored training programmes will be adapted to suit your level of experience. Substation experience would be desirable but not essential. You have a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK and be available for standby rota providing reactive call outs. You will be within 45 minutes travel from our Lovedean site as you’ll be based here and cover the Portsmouth, Southampton and New Forest area.
