At Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, we are on a journey towards the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, which will provide one of the largest Emergency departments in the country.
Our Emergency Department now has a vacancy at Band 7, and we are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic RGN with good communication skills and initiative. Come and join us and be part of our team as we continue to develop patient led services, and nursing roles, that reflect the changes in Emergency Healthcare.
This will be a cross site working post between City & Sandwell ED.
Band 7 Key Requirements:
- 4 years recent post registration ED experience, to include 2 years at Band 6 in ED.
- Evidence of ALS/ATLS at Provider level.
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to coordinate patient flows to achieve national KPIs
Over the next year we will be finalising our move in the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital come and be a part of the planning and transition of two hospitals into one.

The post Holder Should be able to:
Co-ordinate the department as a whole, effectively maintaining patient flows through the department.
To escalate delays in the delivery of care and management of patients, in accordance with Trust Escalation Procedures, to meet National Performance Targets.
To supervise the activities of the multi-disciplinary team, promoting collaborative working relationships to facilitate the rapid delivery of holistic, seamless care for all patients
To co-ordinate the activities of the nursing team, on a shift-to-shift basis, and provide skilled nursing (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.
To priorities care needs, ensuring the delivery of a quality service through effective leadership and efficient deployment of available resources.
To provide leadership to a defined team, undertaking PADRs and supporting team members in achieving individual objective

The Midland Metropolitan Hospital is being built in Smethwick and will be open in 2024. It will be the single acute hospital for Sandwell and West Birmingham, providing state of the art healthcare facilities for the population. The Midland Metropolitan will house the emergency department, maternity, acute inpatient wards and operating theatres. Sandwell Hospital remains the site for the Trust headquarters.

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
To be responsible for ensuring patient care and safety are evaluated whilst on duty.
To supervise the work of student nurses and support workers.
