We are a dynamic, busy inner-city Emergency Department with a yearly attendance of 110,000 patients, offering a wide range of clinical experience.
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, proactive and motivated individuals to join our friendly and dynamic team within our busy department, as we continue to develop patient led services and expand nursing roles that reflect the on-going changes in Emergency healthcare.
Our commitment to staff development is reflected in our supernumerary induction programme and mentorship package for all new staff, and a Band 5 competency programme. This is led by our dedicated A&E Professional Development Team, and supported through our Team Structure.
Band 5 Essential requirements: ·
NHS acute experience 6 months or more.
Evidence of professional development in the last 12 months.

- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care in consideration of individual patient needs, maximising opportunities for health promotion and education.
- Manage a defined group of patients/clients, participating in all aspects of care from arrival through to admission/transfer/discharge.
- Assess and prioritise patient/client requirements, delegating effectively to others.
- To recognise, review and report patient’s/client’s condition and any changes to it to senior members of staff within the multidisciplinary team.
- To manage a group of patients, reporting appropriately to the nurse in charge.
- To promote and participate in collaborative working relationships and effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Take responsibility for own professional development, developing own skills within the Scope of Professional Practice and the Departmental Development Programmes.

This will be a cross site working post between City & Sandwell ED
The Midland Metropolitan Hospital is being built in Smethwick and will be open in 2024. It will be the single acute hospital for Sandwell and West Birmingham, providing state of the art healthcare facilities for the population. The Midland Metropolitan will house the emergency department, maternity, acute inpatient wards and operating theatres. Sandwell Hospital remains the site for the Trust headquarters.

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
To be responsible for ensuring patient care and safety are evaluated whilst on duty.
To supervise the work of student nurses and support workers.
