Trainee Quantity Surveyor & Estimator

Department: Commercial
Location: Lucas Head Office (+ visits to sites as required, mainly London and home counties)
Reports to: Reports to Commercial Manager
Salary: Negotiable, subject to experience

Objective
Working under the supervision of the Commercial Manager you will receive on the job training for the roll as a quantity surveyor, whilst learning to provide quotes and estimates and assist with tenders.
The selected candidate will be carrying out measures off drawings, valuing change, assisting on project accounts, and gaining full exposure on the day-to-day duty of a quantity surveyor and estimator.
Main Responsibilities (but not limited to)
You will cover all Quantity Surveying aspects of the projects and will be responsible for:
- Assisting in carrying out valuations and producing interim applications for payments.
- Regularly liaising with the site teams and clients, via phone, email and in face-to-face meetings.
- Valuing change and creating estimates.
- Assist in financial reporting and CVRs.
- Obtaining material rates from suppliers.
- Carrying out measures of work and extracting data to create bills of quantities.
- Providing assistance as required to the project team on live projects.
What you need to succeed
- Experience in Quantity Surveying but not essential.
- Working towards obtaining a BSC Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (HNC or equivalent qualification in a construction related subject).
- Works well as part of a wider team, able to build collaborative and sustainable relationships across the company.
- Subscribe to high standards and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent analytical skills and conversant with good reporting methodology.

- Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Hold a full valid driving licence and access to your own transport.
