Job Description

Academy: Darwen Vale High School
Job Title: Assistant Head of Year (non-teaching)

Reporting to: Head of Year

Contract Basis SCP 11 – £21,127 (£24,053 FTE)

37hrs per week, Term Time plus 2 weeks (including 5 INSET

days) 40 weeks - 12 months contract initially.

To be aware of and work in accordance with the Darwen Vale High School safeguarding child protection policies and procedures in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and to raise any concerns relating to such procedures which may be noted during the course of duty.

The post holder will be required to have a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and be re-checked every 3 years as per Darwen Vale High School proceures

GCSE’s in English and Mathematics at level 4 or above

NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience

Experience

Experience of working in an educational setting

Experience of working with young people

Experience of dealing with challenging students

Are looking to build and grow a career in an educational setting

Experience of working with children of a relevant age

X

Full working knowledge and understanding of the national curriculum and other basic programs/strategic processes and barriers to learning, including behavior management strategies

Understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes

X

Ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving

X

Full understanding of the range of support services/providers

Ability to use relevant technology and systems (SNAP, CPOMS, SIMS etc)

X

Ability to work well as part of a team

Tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with the public, pupils and colleagues at work.
