Summary of the Job:
A Junior Network Engineer is fundamentally required to actively seek to learn and develop their skillsets so to elevate themselves to a Network Engineer level, able to undertake any of the networking tasks required by EE. The engineer should be ready to take assignments upon request with help at hand from a Senior level engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
· A willingness to learn, shadowing Senior level engineers so to expand one’s knowledge
· Maintain a basic understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security,
IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
· Design, setup and configure basic switching environments
· Design, setup and configure basic wireless networking that supports open or secured access and
the ability to support voice and video applications
· Maintain an understanding of Local Area Networking & Wireless Networking
· Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network
and telecommunication systems.
· Maintaining network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular
maintenance with both private and public facilities
· Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with
established objectives.
· Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside
vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support
· Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security
systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
· Complete timesheets within 48 hours of completing tasks to ensure accurate work/project records
· Any other duties as assigned by management
Key Requirements:
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems and applications is essential.
· Basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
· Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
· Current Full driving Licence
· Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required
· Current CCNA and/or CCDA certification advantageous (CCNA must be in the process)
· Additional certifications required by management. Keep abreast of new developments in software and hardware.
· Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal
· Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environment
· Availability in response to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment
malfunctions
