Overview
Porta Romana designs, manufactures and distributes worldwide its beautiful Lighting and Furniture products from its base in Farnham, Surrey.
An opportunity has arisen to join Porta Romana in a Trainee Accountant role with study support (CIMA/ACCA/AAT). We are looking for someone who is keen to complete a accountancy taining contract in a best in class international manufacturing, distribution and retail business.
We are flexible on hours and could accommodate Full or Part Time. Our only requirement is that we do need the person to work up to 5pm daily but are flexible on start times.
Working in a small SME finance team, we require the person to be based at our offices in Farnham. We don't envisage hybrid working for this role.
We also offer an annual bonus scheme (not guaranteed) in the region of £1,100 which is paid free of tax after 12 months service.
What you will do:
Financial Accounting
- Bank reconciliations for all accounts
- Assist the Financial Controller with the monthly management accounts
- Fixed Assets, VAT returns and financial reporting
- Covering Accounts Payable for holiday/sick absence
Credit Control and Sales Order support
- Process daily customer payments (whether by bank transfer, cheque or credit/debits cards) onto the Syspro sales ledger and accurately allocate against sales invoices and credit notes
- Raising & sending daily sales invoices, month end customer statements
- Notify sales team of daily receipts
- Release Pro-forma invoices (with proof of payment) and credit orders once receipt of confirmation from sales team. If credit has been exceeded consult with sales team/FD
- Chase debtor amounts on a small number of credit accounts
- Chase balance payments and coordinate with the after sales team
- Check Storage Report and advise of any orders that can be released for dispatch and raise storage charge sales invoices.
- Review New Account Setups on Sys Pro by the sales team and amend as necessary
Key Skills Required
· Some Credit Control Experience would be helpful
· Ability to multitask
· An organised nature and keen attention to detail
· Strong administrative skills
· Superb communication skills
· Proficiency in the use of Office and Excel
· A pro-active attitude with the ability to work under own initiative
We are based on the edge of the Surrey Hills in a beautiful rural location surrounded by wildlife, therefore it is essential that you are able to drive and have access to a vehicle.
