As the Corporate Controller of Kevin’s Natural Foods, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of accounting including the preparation of the financial statements, maintenance and implementation of adequate systems for accounting, and a comprehensive set of controls to ensure that reported results comply with GAAP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, month-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Responsible for establishing accounting policies and procedures that ensure financial statements are in compliance with GAAP accounting principles.
- Maintains knowledge of current and upcoming accounting standards, ultimately leading analysis, whitepaper creation and implementation.
- Supervision of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff, and primary responsibility for the general ledger.
- Maintains chart of accounts, prepares all month end journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and P&L variance analysis.
- Prepares required regulatory reporting and internal reports.
- Partner with the CFO, external auditors & other stakeholders to create and maintain financial records and analysis which positions Kevin’s for a successful M&A transaction within the next year.
- Work with teams across the company to identify, design and implement internal control and process improvements.
- Cash and debt management, including covenant reporting.
- Collaborates with Operations leadership on an ongoing basis related to physical inventory counts, inventory cost variances and standards reviews, operations budget and forecasting, and other operational KPIs.
- Other duties as assigned or necessary.
Qualifications:
- Master or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA a strong plus.
- 10+ years of progressively relevant experience in a publicly traded company or a combination of Big 4 public accounting firm with hands on experience in a private company preferred.
- An entrepreneurial and self-driven mindset, with the experience to continuously improve.
- Excellent analytical skills, ideally with hands-on expertise in financial and operations analysis in a food manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated business partnering skills with exceptional presentation and communication skills with all levels of an organization.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP and accounting systems.
