The Change & Transformation Branch is responsible for the portfolio of business change which delivers transformational improvements to the way we conduct our business across GMP and delivering our citizen contract.

The portfolio consists of several strategic programmes each of which will bring about transformational change across the organisation, including structures, processes and technology.
There is an exciting new role within the Change & Transformation Team for a Senior Change Project Manager role within the Delivery Team. You will have line management responsibilities for the Change Project Managers under the supervision and guidance of a Strategic Change Programme Manager and the governance of project boards. You will be expected to deputise for Programme Managers where needed.

The role is based on the Central Park Complex, but you would be expected to work from any GMP locations depending on the needs of the project(s). The role does allow for some agile working. Hours are flexible within Force policy constraints.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who can effectively and efficiently manage and deliver multiple diverse and complex projects or a small programme for a range of different stakeholders.

Key attributes and experience include:
  • Experience of managing projects in a commercial or public sector environment.
  • Qualified in Project Methodologies such as PRINCE2®, MSP or similar and experience of customising methodologies to meet needs.
  • Proactive management of internal and external key programme controls including RAID, financials (forecast costs to complete, technical and management contingency and capital cost), quality, scope and performance against schedule.
  • Track record of building positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders and active management of expectations through appropriate communications, assurance and governance.
  • Effective people management and leadership skills
  • Ability to understand and clarify customer requirements, and effectively communicate between technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Flexibility; can alter plans to react to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Strong familiarity with associated software, e.g. Microsoft Project and MS Excel.
  • Experience of working both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Highly organised, with an ability to manage time and execute tasks effectively within in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to recognise the communication styles of customers and other team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, representatives of other departments, external partners, suppliers and recipients of change.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and address objections from customers and wider project teams, negotiating to ensure project success.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.

Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member. Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55. One of those conditions is that a break of at least 1 month is required where the re-employment is ‘materially different’. However, if the role is not deemed to be ‘materially different’ then a 6 month break is required.
