HR Officer
Human Resources play’s a central part in developing our client’s strategy to ensure they support, advise and cater for the needs of all who work for the organisation. The HR Officer will have responsibility for supporting the HR Manager on projects and by overseeing the day-to-day operation of the HR function. Working for our prestige client based in Hertford, this HR Officer role is a full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week with a requirement to work occasional Saturday mornings on a Rota basis. The role offers an attractive salary of £30,000 - £33,000 depending on experience, plus good benefits. There is also flexibility for this position to be part-time.
Duties:
The post holder will:
Regulatory and Compliance
- Ensure that the HR policies are up to date, accessible and effective
- Ensure compliance with HR legislation, guidance, good practice and HR policies
- Integrate HR data into the company system and to ensure the most efficient use of digital technical within the department to maintain accurate employee records
- Support the accurate and time collation of the money payroll and annual payroll tasks
Personal Specification
Experience
- Full and varied, end-to-end experience as a HR generalist
- Demonstrable experience in a HR advisory capacity and supporting HR projects
- Knowledge of current UK employment law and codes of practice
- A track record of demonstrating confidence and ability to deliver
- Experience and knowledge of driving change
- Experience of a multi-disciplined, matrix environment
Employee Lifecycle
Support the Recruitment Manager, as required, with the end-to-end recruitment process, liaising with hiring managers on requirements, preparation of job descriptions, posting advertisements and manage the hiring process
- Ensuring timely selection and turnaround of new starters to maintain a full complement of staff in line with budget and authorisation
- Maintain the highest standard of recruitment and vetting procedures ensuring the safeguarding policies, including, for example, right to works checks, references, DBS checks.
- Preparation of employment related documents including employment contracts, contractual amendments, and compensation letters
- Implementation of effective onboarding plans, including organization and delivery of staff induction, ensuring new staff have a seamless transition into the company
- Conduct exit interviews, assessing the overall employee experience and identifying opportunities for improving retention and engagement
Employee Relations
- Advise and support staff with employment matters
- Under the guidance of the HR management, manage the companies disciplinary and grievance processes, ensuring informal and formal process are applied fairly, consistently and effectively
- Use effective communication and processes so that all staff are informed and consulted with, as appropriate, regarding changes
- Advise on employment relations cases, providing the relevant direction and process required to manage a case to conclusion or seek further specialist advice, where appropriate
- Respect the confidential and sensitive nature of employee issues that arise
Learning and Development
- Ensure all support staff receive an effective probationary review and annual appraisal.
- Ensure all staff receive mandatory training in relation to safeguarding, monitor completion for new hires and annual requirements.
- Advise line manager with regard to performance management processes.
- Conduct training session fore line managers to ensure that the company’s procedures are delivered according to their policies, consistently and fairly
Other
- Support the HR Manager with the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems.
- Stay abreast of changes in employment legislation and specific compliance regulations through attendance at seminar, networking groups and reading material from recognized sources
Skills
- Varied, end to end experience as a HR generalist, HR Officer, or HR Advisor
- Experience in a HR Advisory capacity
- Knowledge of current UK employment law
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels in an organization
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
- Willingness to work flexibly when required, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the role
- Discretion, tact and diplomacy, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Extensive HR experience is essential
Qualifications
- Good general level of education (to A Level or equivalent)
- Relevant HR Qualification desirable
