About the role
We are looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Security Officer at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton. The role is based within our Estates Team comprising of Security, Maintenance, Operations and Cleaning.
The successful candidate will provide security of the physical assets of the Centre and will ensure the safety and security of people within the NOC in accordance with defined procedures, including compliance with Health & Safety procedures. Duties will include responding to security incidents, CCTV monitoring and enforcement of NOC vehicle parking regulation.
About you
You will possess an SIA License (Door Supervisor preferred). Some essential skills will be required within the role such as IT knowledge (MS Office), with strong written and verbal communication, as well as a willingness to undertake training as required; have the flexibility to vary shift hours on occasions; able to cope with varying daily workloads and ability to understand Health & Safety requirements and Risk Assessments. The candidate will have experience within the security industry in a customer-focused environment.
The NOC Security Room is a very busy environment; you will be monitoring several electronic monitoring systems such as Electronic DOB, CCTV, Access Control, ANPR, Fire System and Building Management System, as well as booking in contractors, dealing with staff enquiries, processing found property and issuing keys.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a willingness to learn, whilst undertaking necessary training as required.
Other information:
The Security Officer post operates on a rotating shift, averaging 48 hours per week providing 24-hour cover at the site.

This position will be based in Southampton. The centre is well connected by public transport and has ample cycle parking in addition to free onsite car-parking.
