Northampton

As a Barclays Support Worker, you will provide wide range of assistance to help support visually impaired manager within Fraud Operations. You will be joining Fraud Operation Services, which consists of multiple teams worldwide investigating and preventing fraud across the complete Barclays portfolio. We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. What will you be doing?
• Taking inaccessible electronic materials and reformatting or converting them into accessible formats
  • Verbally describing on-screen information as requested including description of screen colours, font, graphics, and other on-screen elements
  • Preparing presentation, format and layout of documentation, analysis and reports produced by the Manager
  • Providing guide support to ensure that the visually impaired manager is able to navigate the office environment where necessary
  • Facilitating external events including navigating around unfamiliar buildings, and occasionally assisting individual to get safely around unfamiliar venues
  • Providing assistance in terms of explaining and articulating paper handouts, flipcharts and overhead projector presentations while in meeting
  • Assisting completion of paper-based documentation, adhering to spelling, punctuation, and grammar as appropriate
  • Transcribing from internal & external correspondence, reports, and other documentation, where terms may be technical and complex and urgent deadlines will have to be met
What we’re looking for:
• Excellent communication skills – oral and written correspondence and high degree of interpersonal skills when dealing with a range of people and complex situations
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and urgent requests and multitask in a busy challenging environment
  • Exceptionally proficient in MS Office products and proven record of learning and adapting to variety of internal systems
  • Awareness of and interest in Diversity & Inclusion matters, including disability and mental health
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Highly professional manner, excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines when under pressure
  • Previous experience of working with visually impaired individuals would be useful but is not strictly necessary, an understanding of disability and assistive technologies that can help
  • Experience working within a project-oriented environment; self-motivated and proactive individual
  • Enthusiastic, cheerful team player with a desire to work hard and learn about the organisation and team

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
