Working in Channels & Amplification at Bayer Communications & Public Affairs

We are looking for a talented, passionate, self-starting and curious person. Culture is incredibly important to us in Channels & Amplification. The ideal person would be someone who enjoys creating, connecting with people and having fun, whilst developing and being comfortable having responsibility from day one.
Our Communications & Public Affairs function at Bayer protects Bayer’s brand and reputation, and includes: Business Partners, providing communication strategy, planning and support to Bayer’s divisions, functions and business units; Public Affairs & Sustainability, nurturing dialogue with key stakeholder groups around key societal topics; and Baylab UK, Bayer’s hands-on science education facility, building STEM engagement for students in the UK. The Channels & Amplification team works across these areas and with all parts of Bayer in the UK, Ireland and across the world. The team’s purpose is to lead Bayer’s integrated channel and content strategy and to engage with communities across web and social.
This role would involve working across all areas of Communications & Public Affairs as you -
- create and deliver communication messages and events planning, scheduling, writing, editing, designing, production and posting content to web sites, digital signage, and social media.
- monitoring and developing the internal and external digital channels we use to reach communities inside and outside Bayer, by conducting research, polling, media monitoring and channel analysis (visitor numbers, likes and comments) and making recommendations.
- Supporting the team in the use of social media in a strategic and effective way
- Management of communication duties such as communication inboxes and press office enquiries
- Supporting the team with both internal and external event organisation
- Supporting the team in creating and delivering new campaigns
- Media monitoring and insights: conducting research for the team, monitoring media clippings and reporting key details
- Contributing to the smooth running of the team by providing support with administrative duties such as planning and preparing presentations and creating surveys
- Develop a depth of understanding about how communication channels operate, specifically in the Life Sciences industry
Mentor
You will be assigned a mentor from your function to provide guidance and support as you progress on your apprenticeship. In addition to helping learn your new role they will be on hand to support you with your coursework.
Onboarding
You will get to know your team and role through your onboarding experience where you will be given all the information you need to make you a success in your new role.
Functional/Soft Skill Development
As part of your programme you will be given training to support you specifically in your roles. You will also receive over the course of your programme your specific personal development training.
Qualifications
During your time on program you will study towards a recognised qualification.

What are we looking for?
- Enthusiastic, adaptable apprentices who are good communicators, both written and oral
- An interest in creativity – in a practical way or through developing ideas – in areas such as writing, film, design, photography or social media (but previous media experience is not needed)
- Someone who is curious, not afraid to offer an opinion and the ability to prioritise and use your initiative
- The ability to work both individually and as part of a wider team
- The ability to work with discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Good attention to detail, accuracy and a high standard of literacy
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent. 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade 4 and above, including Maths and English
- Aspire to develop your career further
- Possess a positive attitude and a willingness to challenge the status quo
